The next Social Media Club is this Thursday, September 10th, and there is a fantastic panel coming together. The topic is Old Media Using New Media, and we’ll hear from local newspaper, radio, and television people discuss how things like blogs, self-publishing, and interactive media have changed their jobs and their industry.

  • Beverly Kidd, Anchor KTVK, @beverlykidd
  • Lori Santa Maria, Internet Marketing Manager, KTVK 3TV|KASW CW6|azfamily.com – @losama
  • Rene Gutel, Freelance Journalist/Public Radio Reporter – @rgutel
  • Pamela Mitchell, Village Voice/New Times – @pamela_anne
  • Chad Graham, Workplace Reporter, Arizona Republic – @azjobtawk

Their input will prove valuable to anyone using social media to communicate news and information. The panel starts at 6:30.

Social Media 101

The SM101 topic this week is “5 Simple Things That Make Your Blog Better”. Getting a
WordPress blog set up is easy. To bad they don’t set up ‘right’ out of the gate. The good news is this: a few simple tweaks can get you blogging better in minutes.

Here’s what we’ll cover:

  • Filling out your About page so we know who the hell you are
  • Adding contact information
  • Better Permalink structure
  • Adding your name to your blog posts — and RSS feed
  • Future-posting.

The Social Media 101 session starts at 5:30 and is led by Evo Terra. It is entirely optional and you can just attend the main panel at 6:30 if you wish.
